I am so excited to talk about Reach! This ministry is near and dear to my heart because I get the wonderful opportunity to serve alongside these folks every week. They not only care for the people they serve but they truly make a difference in the community.
They are the real deal!
RESTORING HOPE
Reach Ministry has a passion for those who are going through tough times in life: people who are lost, broken, and desperately in need of help. Many of the individuals they serve have come to a place where they feel they are out of options – and out of hope. Outreach teams go into the darkest corners of our city each week to meet them with food, emergency supplies – and an invitation to hope again.
Mission
What’s the “why” behind what they do? What drives a person to dedicate their lives to see others thrive? I can sum it up in one word…LOVE! From my personal observation I believe the mission and calling they walk out comes straight out of 1 John 4:19 “We love because He first loved us.”
Here it is in their own words:
“We come alongside the lost and broken-hearted and to create a platform for people to serve in the community. We bring light into the darkest places in our city. We believe each of us are called to love our neighbors as ourselves. We all have unique gifts, talents, platforms, and spheres of influence. We want to use these things to serve our neighbors in need, and also teach and empower others to do the same. We believe Jesus is the true way to be set free from situations in life.”
Where it began
In 2017 Rich Simms who is the founder of Reach, had a moment with God that changed EVERYTHING. God spoke to Rich who at the time was a successful business man and God spoke to him twice,
“Feed the homeless.”
Rich didn’t know what that looked like but he knew he needed to follow the call. He began visiting Pioneer Square in DT Seattle weekly at 7AM. He would pass out breakfast sandwiches and a tote bag and began learning about the individuals he would serve. It was his YES that turned into something so much more than he could’ve ever imagined.
This testimony is so powerful and I pray it encourages you to step out even if you don’t know what is on the other side. Your yes to God can be an answer to someone else’s prayer. God doesn’t need us to have every detail dialed in for us to step out. He is in the business of multiplying the little we are able to bring.
He just needed a willing heart
Achievements
Here are just a few amazing statistics from the time Rich followed the call in 2017 to now:
Meals Served: 144,315
Outreach Events: 516
Salvations: 1,890
Housing Resources: 8,489
Outreach Volunteers: 9,279
Outreach Volunteer Hours: 38,258
Ways to Get Involved
Reach is continuing to expand throughout the PNW. They now have teams in Seattle, Everett, and Tacoma. I believe this is just the beginning, not only for our unhoused friends but a true revival of HOPE in our cities!
There are quite a few ways to get involved, whether it’s participating in the weekly Outreach Events or volunteering with the Care Project. The Care Project is a team of volunteers who help with the weekly meal prep. I encourage you to click the link below and see how you can make a difference in someone else’s life. We would love to have you!
Volunteer Opportunities:
SOWING SEED
As you can see, Reach Ministry is doing some pretty amazing things! It takes an army of people to not only say yes but to lock arms with one another as we each do our part. If you feel compelled to give financially or to donate click the link below.

Lastly, I believe there is POWER IN PRAYER. It’s an honor to come together and lift one another up in prayer because we know that we have a good Father in Heaven who hears us.
Here are a few prayer points the Reach Family would greatly appreciate:
- Emergency Vehicle
- Housing Discipleship
- Tacoma Office
- Detox Center
- Bigger Reach Headquarters
Thank you for considering to partner with Reach Ministry. Your participation, prayer and/or dollar makes a DIFFERENCE to create the change we want to see.
