WHY DETOX?

Detoxing is a way we can take our bodies to the spa!

Here are a few benefits we can attain by allowing our bodies a simple restart:

  1. Eliminating Toxins
  2. Alkalizing the Body
  3. Improving Digestion
  4. Improving our Metabolism

Not only does mint have amazing healing properties but watermelon eliminates free radicals from the body, which prevents unnecessary build up that could lead to disease and even cancer.

Anytime we make a change to our physical bodies we can expect to see change expressed in our mental, emotional, and spiritual life, too!

HOW TO PICK THE RIGHT WATERMELON?

1: Check out the stem! It should be dry and yellow-brown. A green stem may signify that the watermelon is not yet ripe and will lack flavor and sweetness.

2: Have fun and do a little “tap, tap!” You want it to sound hollow. This will indicate that your watermelon is ripe and has more water.

3: Dry weathering spots and vein-like webbing lines are great! We may not want it on our skin but we DO want it on our watermelon! This is an indicator of the sugar seeping out of the fruit.

LET’S TALK MINT

Whether you purchase your mint or grow it like I do, I always seem to have some left over. I want to share with you some tips on how to preserve your mint and not allow one leaf to go to waste!

—Preserving your mint leaves

First, you’ll want to grab yourself a small vase, jar or another shallow container and fill it with water.

Next, cut the ends of your mint leaves at a slight angle. Place the mint leaves in the container, cover it with the saran wrap and secure it with the rubber band. You can place this in the refrigerator or counter top. Don’t forget to change the water every couple of days and your mint leaves will be happy, lasting up to a MONTH!

—Don’t waste one leaf—

Here are a few different ways to use your mint leaves:

  1. Spruce up your water by freezing some whole mint leaves into ice cubes. Boil your water for crystal clear ice cubes. Allow it to cool before adding it to your ice cube tray.
  2. Make some homemade mint tea! Grab about 5-10 big leaves or more depending on how strong you want it. Tear mint leaves into mug and muddle the leaves for a few seconds with the back of a wooden spoon. Next, pour hot (not boiling) water over the leaves and let it steep for about 5-10 minutes. (You can remove the leaves or leave them in.)
